Counselling and Psychotherapy can help with many issues including:

During the Covid 19 pandemic I am able to help with any of the issues below using video conferencing on Skype, Zoom or FaceTime. Please contact me to make a virtual appointment.

Anxiety, Depression, Stress Management, Bereavement, Couples Issues, Life Stage Change, Sleep, Eating Disorders, Low Esteem and Personal Development.

I am an accredited BACP counsellor psychotherapist with over 20 years of professional experience.

I use an integrative approach in my work, which means I choose the most appropriate strand from my training (Person Centred, Psychodynamic and CBT) to help to help an individual or couple with a particular issue or difficulty.

Counselling provides a safe place to work through difficulties such as anxiety, depression, stress, grief, and relationship problems. The counselling process helps you make sense of your feelings and develop the new understanding and skills you need to cope more effectively.

I work with individuals and couples, and am trained in both short term solution focused work and in long term psychotherapy.

Since 2002 I have worked in private practice in Newark, where I see mainly individuals for short term focussed work, or longer term therapy who have self referred. I also see people from Employee assistance Programmes such as PPC and BUPA, and couples with relationship issues. Previously I worked for RELATE as a counsellor and trainer, as a student counsellor in F.E. and more recently in the NHS.

I have a B.Sc. from King’s College, London, alongside a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am a RELATE trained couples therapist and have a certificate in couples counselling and also an Advanced Diploma in CBT.

Frequently Asked Questions

You talk, and I will listen and help you make the right choices for yourself, so that you feel differently or can improve matters for yourself. I don’t give advice but help you find the answers.
I am very experienced and have completed professional training. I am a Relate Certificated Counsellor and am accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
It would be impossible to list all the reasons for seeing a counsellor, but people come and talk to me about problems at home, their relationships, emotional difficulties, coping with decisions and change, stress, anxiety, loss and bereavement, and many other issues.
No. You can bring a little problem or a very large problem. It may be about something that has just happened, or an issue that goes back a long way. You may come on your own, or if you have a relationship problem you may choose to come with a partner. I will try and help you with anything.
I will not tell anyone about what you have said. Counselling is strictly confidential (unless you tell us that you, or someone else is in extreme danger).
The cost is £60 for an hour-long session for an individual.
You can telephone 07870 665506 and speak to me directly. If I’m not available, please leave a message. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can, and arrange to see you. You will be given an opportunity to meet me for an assessment appointment. After that you may arrange to meet again, usually at weekly or fortnightly intervals. If I cannot help with your particular problem I will usually know someone who can.
